    Default FLATIRON: Ping tuners?

I'm as curious as the seller of one of these on the classifieds today: Does anyone know if any A model Flatirons (the Carlson era A5-1 specifically) were fitted with OEM Ping tuners? They have metal tuner 'buttons'.

They might have used them on the pancake models, I don't know about that. Every carved model I ever saw had Schaller tuners. That doesn't mean these aren't original, it means I never saw one.

Here's an 81 pancake model with Ping tuners.
Here's an 82 pancake with Ping tuners.

I'm going to hazard a guess that they might be original.

I've seen them on Pancakes, too, Mike. Here they on this 'A' from the front (ad post).

That's my Flatiron and the tuners are perfectly aligned with the head, there are no finish differences on either side indicating something was replaced. I would venture a guess they are original.
