Default Gellie F-5 in the white in pics and sound bites

    Hi everyone

Just strung up my Gellie F-5 made from an Arches F-5 kit.

Here is a picture of her in the white soon to be sunbursted:

I was actually facing away from the microphone on my laptop computer. I also had to turn down the recording volume.

    Thanks everyone.

Making one of these is not for the faint hearted. It was a test to see if I could the very best in making a mandolin. I am now in the process of making an A-5. Not as difficult and the process seems familiar. I put a lot of effort into graduating the plates.

Really nice job Nic. I'm probably alone in this, but I love the look of a mandolin in the white like that.If I had the funds to have one built .That's how i would want it.Congrat.'s

From choctaw61 - "I'm probably alone in this, but I love the look of a mandolin in the white like that.", You are most definitely not alone. I absolutely love the look of an unfinished mandolin & i'd opt for keeping that look,at the very least, for the top.

Terrific work Nic - it sounds good & looks glorious,

Thanks Choctaw and Ivan. I have learnt in the process and taking my time really helped. Now is the tricky part to finish it to a high standard. I have reading up all of Sunburst's and other's advice on how to make a really nice sunburst. So sorry to say it won't be in the white for much longer.

Funny it sounds pretty similar to a Collings and so has a modern tone to it.

Thanks Clement. I played it alongside two Gilchrists last weekend and while it was a bit green, volume wise it was louder. It will get more refined as I play it more.
