    Default Mando back or sky?

The similarity is astounding! Anyone else care to share a mandolin back that resembles the sky? The ocean? or some other beautiful piece of nature

Very nice! I've always loved the similarities between beautiful mandolin backs and sunsets. My Ellis F5 Special reminds me of golden clouds at sunset too.

I began a thread a while back called "beautiful one piece backs" and a lot
of these sunset lookalike backs were posted. Sorry I'm not "tech" enough to
include the link. Perhaps you can unearth it.
Your new Gilchrist looks great by the way !
The Gilchrist chap does great sunset backs, check out Sharon Gilchrist's on peghead nation video.
    Refrets, I've had a few . . .

    Here it is: http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/sh...ne-piece-backs

Lots of great shots in there.

But really - can we get back to talking about the search?

(I'm kidding - don't start lest the thread gets locked down!)

The back of my Breedlove Crossover looks like the night sky, far from any city, with clouds-- it's black

I asked Steve to pick the chunk of wood he'd use if he was building his own, and that's what he selected. Worked out nicely.
