    Default Bridge recommendation

Does anyone have a recommendation for a compensated bridge for an archtop tenor? I recently purchased a small archtop which had been converted to an octave mandolin and I want to convert it back to tenor configuration. Currently making a new bone nut but need a bridge. The only one I am familiar with is Ernest Instruments on his Veronica. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Hi TLG, a picture of you guitar might help or even a bit more info about it?
There are loads of adjustable height archtop bridges for sale on ebay but it depends on the model of guitar you have.

Hey Fox. It's a Gugino from 1940. The octave spacing on a thin neck was just not working and is incorrect for tenor. I have several guitar bridges but they are just too wide. Here she is:

If all else fails you can always fill in the existing string slots and recut for tenor guitar on the bridge that's on it now.

I am tempted to make a new bridge saddle from a piece of rosewood I have (I believe it is currently ebony) but would prefer to avoid unnecessary labor in trial and error should there be a semi stock solution available. Nuts I've made but a bridge is a different animal.

And someone turned that thing of beauty it into an 8 string!
I still can't see any detail of the bridge, can you give me the dimensions of the bridge.
I have fitted quite a few, just recently I fitted one to a friends 6 string, I bought it from China via eBay.
There was quite a lot of leeway to cut it down and modify the base to fit.
The ones I have bought have a removable bone insert that can be sanded down to except 4 strings rather than the standard 6.

The guitar was actually modified by Carmelo Gugino according to the information received. I purchased it from Burnuzio Instruments who acquired it from Gugino's grandson. Strung as an octave is was OK but jangly and initially had a mandolin tailpiece. Restrung in C using the existing nut and bridge it is incredibly resonate and projects exceedingly well. It is wonderfully constructed with beautiful detail and heavy for a 13 1/2" lower bout when compared to a 30's Epiphone Melody or Regent. The base of the bridge is 4.25" (107mm) and 3" (76 mm) at the top. Here are a few pics:

That looks pretty much like a readily available mandolin bridge, most seem to have a 110mm base.
I would just type in archtop bridge or mandolin bridge on eBay you will be spoilt for choice... one like this should work but for the cost you could try a few different models http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ebony-Comp...UAAOSw7ThUoW~2

It looks like a very nice ebony bridge, that is probably fit nicely to the top. It would be kind of shame to have to replace and refit a bridge (?).
It is not the the most elegant solution, but you could use the existing slots (ie, 1,3,5,7) and shift the bridge position laterally by a few mm. Or, file/sand the saddle smooth (luckily the slots appear very shallow), and reslot.

Nice pictures; you sure don't see a guitar like this every day!
