    Default Gibson smokestack rebuild project

In this mornings Kalamazoo Gazette the cover story was on the rebuilding of the smokestack! Fundraising efforts will be announced by the restoration flag wavers soon, glad to see this is finally getting underway. They will take off about thirty feet from the 70+ foot stack and examine the stability of the base.
Right now, the weather is about as nice as one could ask for for the task!
I think the story is available at:
Thought you'd all like to know.
Of course it's all about guitar history but hey, it's historical preservation!

All facts are important, it's just the context that changes - Mr. Vincent Nigel-Murray

    Guitar, brown with six strings.

    Not really, it's a 1976 Alvarez, model 5059

We were nearby Kalamazoo yesterday so we drove into town to check on the smokestack project. (Okay, and to have a beer at Bell's. Mixed priorities there between the two of us.)

Indeed the chimney was taken down to about the "N" in Gibson and the scaffolding was still up. It was a Saturday and a pretty gloomy afternoon to boot with heavy clouds but the worksite did look a little scruffy and maybe mothballed. Not to mention a couple of big windows seemed out on the second floor of the old building. That's not good.

Anyone news on the progress of the project or the future plans (beer garden?) for complex?

    Mick
