Dan, are you leaving on Monday the 7th, or are here through that whole monday? Radio Coffee and Beer on the south side of town has a bluegrass night every monday night. Some really great pickers are out there, and it's always a good time.

+1 on TEvans suggestion. That's a great spot, great musicians, loose atmosphere. Also, Fiddler's Green has a Traditional Irish Session every Sun 3 - 6, or go to centraltexasbluegrass.org, there are CTBA affiliated band shows Fri, Sat and Sun. The CTBA Jam is at Hills Cafe every Sun 3 - 6. I like to go to the early blues show at The Saxon Pub Friday nights 6 - 9 with Denny Freeman and friends, ... my kind o hours (thesaxonpub.com). West of Austin in Dripping Springs there's a Sunday jam at The Barbershop Bar 5 - closing that I often go to.
There's a Gram Parson's Birthday Bash at Threadgills Sun, starts at 7 should be way good. I'm gonna try to make that one. Great southern homestyle food there too.
Sixth Street is the live music bar area Austin is famous for, though it's not an acoustic scene.
Have fun, great music city in general, you'll find plenty if you look very hard.
PS: That's the SOUTH Threadgills location for the Gram Parson's Birthday Bash, (threadgills.com)
You're one weekend short of the Collings Gathering on 11/11/16-11/12/16

You should keep moving the 3rd and come to our jam in Kerrville. It starts at 6 and only two hours away
Not sure if you'll be around Monday night, but every week there's an awesome bluegrass night at Radio Coffee & Beer (rotating house band sometimes including members of Milkdrive, Wood & Wire, Bottom Dollar String Band, and Kym Warner)
I think we're heading to the Saxon for that gig!
