Default Best wishes for a peaceful weekend and the holiday ahead

A brief note of thanks from the Mandolin Cafe to this community which during the past few weeks has remained a sane place to hang out online. Sadly, much of music related social media has turned into a hateful free-for-all for everything discussed by musicians but music. It's gotten better of late, but it has a long, long way to go.

On the eve of the start of the holiday season, best wishes to everyone, your families and friends. It's your right to discuss whatever you wish elsewhere but it's important to us that the Mandolin Cafe remains a safe and friendly haven where the music rules.

The world is a better place with lots of music and friendship. Share it with your family, friends, and in particular those in need. Have a great holiday weekend.

YES! Politics can be discussed on all other types of social media
but this is our music house and we should stick to mandolins and such.

There's enough space on the internet for anyone who needs to blow off steam about the election, or other political issues. Lord knows, I've done enough myself, from time to time.

Given my own political preferences, I'm sure I could stir up a hot controversy with a few snarky posts. But that's not what we're about here.

Thirteen members of my family at our house tomorrow, and doubtless differences of opinion will emerge, but we'll stop and appreciate all we're thankful for -- including the ability to get together and accept one another for what we are.

From Scott T. - "Sadly, much of music related social media has turned into a hateful free-for-all for everything discussed by musicians but music." I knew that there was good reason why i never use it !.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I am thankful for many things, but having music in my life is high on the list. It has brought tremendous joy in my life, both listening to it, and playing it.

Just imagine, for a moment, what this world would be like if there were no music. That of course means no dancing, no singing in the shower, and nothing but talk on the radio. Sad, indeed.

Many thanks to Scott and the moderators for keeping this site a refuge where I can escape from the current political controversies and angst, the various work-related stressors, and family issues, and can have a relatively calm site that allows me to indulge in one of my touchstones - making music helps to center me and allows me to live in the moment; reading about my favorite instrument and learning about the many ways and genres in which the mandolin shines.

    Thanks again, Scott!

Peace in the world is not possible without peace of mind. No peace of mind without music.

Even if someone wants to engage in a discussion about their personal decision to use AT&T or Verizon Cell service, don't go there, it could get nasty. There may even be a third party person at the table that uses Sprint or T Mobile. Be respectful.....things are a little tense these days!

Many thanks to Scott and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
