Plus one for Curt Mangan, thanks MandoBart,

while they are PB round wound, I use them pretty much exclusively (on all my mandos, dolas, octaves and mandocellos), they do offer a Monel coated set, but not in mandola that I know of.
I did have that length problem with the GHS mandola set, the Mangan's are plenty long enough.

I'm thinking of trying flatwounds on my Trillium. I've heard flatwounds have more tension than phosphor bronze round wounds. How much do you account for this when making a new set?

I think it is just 'the other way around', the flatwounds have less tension. In any case I rely on the e-mando guys website and Thomastik company to have the right specs, and the strings should be good starting point for any mandola.

I've use emando flat wounds for several years now on my 815 Eastman mandola. Love the sound and smooth feel. Especially good for jazzy stuff.
They tend to last a long time so really not much more expensive than standard strings.
As mentioned above, be sure to specify loop ends.
They also have flat wounds for octave mandos.
Thank you for the tip! Will definitely try the emando flat!
