Default Curious 4-string tease at Taylor Guitars

Heading off to NAMM in a few hours and looking forward to uncovering this pictorial tease from the Taylor Guitar Facebook page later in the week. Bass? Uke (pins, not ties)? Tenor Guitar? The picture does a marvelous job of illusion.

Bob Taylor has been pretty adamant about not tackling the (limited) tenor market, but he did slip once that the GSMINI customer might have the budget for one. We'll see...

Yes please, fingers crossed! I was only after seeing a photo of a GS Mini the other day and thinking wouldn't it be nice if Taylor did a tenor guitar version?

Here's another picture which is less fuzzy, and seems to show 20 frets. Still leaves tenor guitar, baritone uke, and short-scale bass as possibilities I guess.

Taylor has made short runs of ukes in the past, I think using bridge pins.

A tenor built on the GS mini would be cool. It already has close to a 22-7/8 inch scale length.

Does anyone know where the information is on this being a bass? I am very excited if it is. About time Taylor brought back their bass line. Probably won't be in the market for one though as I am loving my own custom Brook acoustic bass.

Oh pooo! That wasn't at all what I was expecting. Not quite in the same league as the original Klein designed Taylor bass. So they have gone with the huge Uke style bass market, which already seems saturated with such basses. And, again they have designed a product which require rather specific strings. Would be interested to hear what this sounds like though. Rather wish it had turned out to be a tenor now!

Ps I take it Taylor's GS minis are made in Mexico? If so, I can't help, but wonder about the future of them.

Looks nice - I'm assuming it's tuned the same as a bass despite the significant shortened scale length?

The GS-Mini guitars are amazing for a short-scale 6-string. I played one today. Loud with a nice bright tone.
