Default proper glue for finger rest pin

I occasionally remove my 2002 Gibson fern's finger rest. The pin lately stays in the mandolin rather than come out with the finger rest. It appears that the pin hole in the finger rest is between the ebony (?) brace and the plastic. What is the proper glue to restore the pin to the hole?

I think the pin stays in the mandolin because it is tight, not glued. I don't think you should glue the finger rest pin to the finger rest, just push it on. If it is really loose, maybe fill the hole and redrill, but I wouldn't glue it.

I think the issue is that the pin is coming out of the finger rest. No one is suggesting gluing to the neck.
I'd think a tiny drop of CA would work to secure the pin to the rest. Others will likely have more experience and comment soon.

    What's a "finger rest"?

I wouldn't either. If it fits well, no need for glue. If you need the pin to be out of the mandolin for some reason, just pull it out after removing the guard.

Aren't the pins usually glued into the finger rest/pickguard?

I think mostly yes. I glue the pins into the fingerrest. Old Gibsons used finishing nails and the head prevented pulling them out of fingerrest through the reinforcement glued to the underside.

I would use tiny drop of thin CA (with needle into the hole) to secure the pin into the fingerrest only.

If you want to do it the "right" way, you can take the fingerrest off, pull the pin from the fingerboard, take a regular diagonal wire cutter and make some deep nicks in the pin where it fits into the fingerrest, glue it securely with CA, and reinstall the guard the next day. T
