Many years ago I met Bill Monroe and he played a tune on my mandolin he called Pocahontas. I've been looking for a recording but have found none. Anyone know this tune?

I was sent a link to this Bill Monroe film: http://www.folkstreams.net/film,210 Could it be the first tune in the film?
Also, this
I've just finished reading the book ''The Music of Bill Monroe'' by Neil Rosenberg & Charles K.Wolfe which is a complete discography of BM's recordings, & amongst the listings under the letter 'P',Pocahontas is not listed. It was possibly a tune that BM knew & maybe even played on stage or 'wherever',but never actually recorded.
OK - A further look came up with this info :- '' Original cinema (video) & Copper Creek re-issue of movie soundtracks/visuals - Producer Steve Gebhardt - ''Inside Bill Monroe's house,Goodlettsville,Tenn'' That's the sum total of info. on the tune. (Page 247)
For anybody wishing to own a complete listing of all BM's recorded songs / tunes ( or not recorded ),the the book is invaluable. There's also more info. about the music back in the pre-Bluegrass days than i'd have imagined that anybody could have gathered in a single lifetime - a stellar work by NR & CKW,
Ivan

Stelling Bellflower BANJO
Tokai - 'Tele-alike'.
Ellis DeLuxe "A" style.
Thanks for the link to that film. I hadn't seen it before. Nice to hear Bill Monroe sing and play 'casually' instead of in on-stage mode.

@ Eric Cowles, I love this tune. I actually own two different versions of Monroe playing this tune. I have also learned it. I love all of the minor tunes that Bill wrote.
Pocahontas was recorded in the studio on May 22, 1994. It took four cuts to get the final sound for it. It's a mandolin tune Bill wrote. Tom Ewing on guitar, Robert Bowlin on fiddle, Dana Cupp banjo, and Tater Tate bass. It remains unreleased. The studio version is way better than the live versions.
