    Default praise for Phitz

I recently bought some Phitz gig bags for my electric mandolins. I just needed something to put them in that was good enough for a short trip in the car and a hike to the cabin. And my budget has taken a beating recently so I needed something inexpensive.

These cases are great. They do the job, keeping dust off the instruments, padding for scrapes and mild bumps. I would not, say, fly with these cases, or use them for a camping trip where you pack a lot of stuff, but for a grab and go bag for a solid body electric they are excellent. And very handsome looking, or crazy looking depending on what style you chose. And very inexpensive. Amazing price really.

Thanks, Jeff. I never heard of them. I generally don't use gig bags but I started fooling around with Irish-tuned tenor banjo and needed something to carry my Gibson TB-Junior. I bought a Superior gig bag for small banjos but I paid about twice what the Phitz costs.

I think the right carry for the right risk. Probably not good for blunt force trauma, dropping on the floor, or dropping something on the instrument, but for carrying from the house to the car to the coffeehouse, probably just fine. Not as good as a hard case, but as good as many gig bags, and maybe better than some.

I recently played an open mike with one of my electrics. I played loud angry fiddle tunes to a burger and beer filled audience. Great fun.

I can't say enough about these Phitz cases. Really convenient, light weight, inexpensive, handsome, and do a particular job well. And perhaps much of their protection comes from me watching out for my instrument ever more scrupulously, knowing they are not in hard shell cases.

Thanks to you, Jeff I purchased one for a low, low price -- actually it was for a banjo. But it is an excellent gig bag. I generally don't use them for mandolins preferring hardshells for those.
