Anyone know how to put a date to a Breedlove Mandolin?

Hi! I have an opportunity to purchase a Breedlove Quartz OO mandolin.

This is new/old stock...it's been in the music store where I take mando lessons for at least the last 3 years, and the lady who runs the retail side of the store tells me that it's been at the store for longer than she's been there (she started in 2010). So, I know it's at least 6 - 7 years old, but I'd like to know more.

I've tried searching online and in the MC forums but have not had much luck. I can't even seem to find the production dates for the Quartz series. Breedlove's website didn't yield any good info either. I've reached out to them, but haven't heard anything back yet.

So...can anyone help me figure out approximately when this one was made? Serial number is 13046. The label inside is signed by Kim Breedlove and shows Bend, OR.

I looked at this....based on what they say then the S/N 13046 would put this as a 2013, which wouldn't be correct since it's been in shop since at least 2010...

I called the number on their website, person who answered was polite and looked up the number. Only took a minute or so.

I don't know about now, but back then, Breedlove's serial numbers were sequential. The "13" had nothing to do with what year the instrument was built or the model. I have #10167, which was built in 2008. (I don't know whether early or late.) If they were building somewhere in the 1-2K range a year, then the serial number of the mando you're interested in would place its build sometime in 2010-2011, as you suspect.

Well...the good folks over at Breedlove responded and I have the answer. The say that S/N 13046 was completed in October 2009. Still working on a price, but I've got a pretty good feeling that it will have a new home soon
