Thumbs up New Airline Mandola arrived

    Here it is, at last.

The Eastwood Airline Mandola in Seafoam Green.
    It's so 1960ies

It took two Webshop attempts to get it, I had to wait for an endless month... It was out of stock in the first shop, the second delivered within two days.

It is pretty well built. But the set-up out of the box was horrible. I spent two days adjusting the truss rod, letting it rest for half a day before the next increment each time, till the neck relieve was to the factory specs. Action was much easier to correct. And the intonation which was bad indeed originally, returned to normal, once the relief and action were o.k.

    It looks so nice:

(sorry, don't know how to rotate the photo here. On the smartphone it is upright.)

So far I played it through amp simulators, one in my mixing desk (very nice sounding, XR18) and "guitarix" in a self built pedal, which is also quite usable. You can even change tubes with just one mouse-click

Bauzl goes plugged. At least every now and then....

The clean sound is nice and rich. Needs some low cut to avoid boominess.
Whith distortion the amp pretty much defines the sound, as usual. I prefer just a touch of distortion with quite some reverb. But I just started my plugged journey. (I hope there will be no PAS = pedal aquisition syndrome.)

I definitly like the double courses and the tuning in fifth.

Rockabilly indeed and Western Swing is what we play. And some Blues and Country. For most of the folk stuff I will stick to my F-style mandolin.

    Cool, enjoy...
Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?

I did not. I did, however, enjoy the beer and some really nice people we got to know.
