    Phil's finished the build.
Here's a quick photo I took of it next to my Davidson F5

Spanish walnut binding on top, maple on neck & headstock

What's it like? I had a Weber to compare to. It's LOUD. Loudest Mandola I've heard. It's sweet.. it's juicy... Really lovely tone. Plays beautifully.

Nice one Rob. CGDA I presume??? You'll have to get a Davidson Mandocello to complete the set!! Best of luck with it.

Hey John. hope all is well with you ps my friend is living in Dublin now & loving it.

Yeah - I'm normally tempted to drop to CGDG, but I'm gonna force myself to stay standard. Dolas are such a nice voicing for singing. I now have to write something with it! Have transposed one of the bands tunes, and that's sounding a lot better, so may convince the band to play that song in C rather than G.
Can't wait for this instrument to start to open up.. it's so intuitive & comfy to play and stretches that might be a prob on a short scale octave are not on this - it's 17" scale btw.Phil was expecting me to ask for 16" but i wanted the benefits of a slightly longer scale.
