I can recall seeing several used Model M's in the classifieds but few if any at a price approaching standard depreciation.

I am not sure what you mean by standard depreciation. If you mean 80% of original value @$1899 less 20% is approximately $1500.

And we have no idea what anything actually sells for unless we are involved in the transaction as either the buyer or the seller.

Don't know what it sold for of course but the last Model M I recall seeing in the classifieds had an asking price of $1700, which I thought rather ambitious.

And that NF5S in the classifieds that Lane mentioned has one of the best prices I've seen on a used Northfield, especially from a respected dealer and for so new of a model. I'll be surprised if it's still available tomorrow.

Edit: I will not be surprised if it's gone before this afternoon.

I'd consider standard depreciation 70% of replacement cost ($1329), but truthfully I don't recall seeing one offered for even 80% ($1529) of that figure.

And we have no idea what anything actually sells for unless we are involved in the transaction as either the buyer or the seller.

But neither of us has been discussing what they've been selling for in previous posts. We've been focused on how they're priced in the classifieds.
