    Default RIP Mel Tillis

RIP Mel. I was solidly into rock and roll when you were at your peak in the 70's, but over the years I came to admire you more and more. Especially how you had the courage to get on stage, despite your stutter. Most of us would have run the first time the audience laughed and never gone back. Maybe we would have spent the rest of our life thinking "what if?" But you had the courage and the conviction of your talent to keep trying, and the world is left with your legacy of songs. Thanks Mel, and here's one of my all time favorites:
A quarter tone flat and a half a beat behind.

It's been a very rough year for musicians. Mel Tillis today. Malcom Young of AC/DC yesterday. Both leaving behind a legacy of musical influences.

Sorry to hear this. I really liked Mel Tillis. Nice voice and lots of great songs. I think 'What Did I Promise Her Last Night?' was my favorite. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXL_M4mzx7U

What a character and genuine guy. My favorite MT song is below. We drank a lot of Coors beer over dominoes in college at numerous red neck honky tonks listening to music like this.

Great entertainer! He was the real deal

Great singer but when I think of Mel I always think of Mrs. Armstrong. Good wholesome stuff. RIP Mel Tillis

In addition to his singing and performing he was a pretty good writer.

The Country Gentlemen's version of Matterhorn still rings in my mind when I think of Mel.

    RIP

It just came to mind that he wrote Walk On Boy also.

Boy, a couple days away and more folks die off!
I wasn’t a big fan of AC/DC but, it’s still hard to hear about talent passing.
Now, the loss of Mel, that breaks my heart, I really enjoyed his talent, songwriting ability was stellar! Interviews on old chat shows were just hilarious!
    I’m going to miss him!
