Thread: Group in Search of a Name...Any Ideas/Suggestions Appreciated

Default Group in Search of a Name...Any Ideas/Suggestions Appreciated

A newly formed, Philadelphia-based group - currently called "Frets and Bellows" - has just finished recording the first few songs for their first CD. The group is comprised of 3-string domra, mandolin, mandola (CGDA), accordion, guitar, and bass. Attached is a video.

No one is very happy with the name "Frets and Bellows" but we are completely at a loss to find another name for the group. Any ideas/suggestions would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have!

Start here and don't use anything that pops up.

Very nice music by the way.

You are all very talented, play a verity of unique instruments and enjoy making music together. Hmmm.... "Simpatico".

So much texture. I'm not there yet, but maybe something like Melody Weavers or Drop Stitch.

If you're looking for a Philly connection use something that is Philadelphia specific. Figure it this way. Nobody is going to have the word Schuylkill in their band name but you and nobody outside this area will know how to pronounce it either. Like simpatico? Schuylkill Simpatico is probably available.

Now that is funny. Heading up to Philly for Christmas, is your group performing in the area during the holiday's?

I also like Domus Cohortem. Getting any ideas yet?

"Philadelphia Pennies" comes to my mind while my train to work passes the Philadelphia Bridge in Vienna.

'The Phillie Harmonia' Harmonia is the latin root word for harmony. A Philharmonic orchestra is another name/title for a symphony orchestra.

Group names can be real problem. I don't have any for you but would urge you to find something cool yet sensible and not one that belongs on Mikes' list as I think most do.

Thanks for your interest, Charley. This group won't be performing anywhere publically over the holidays. We will be doing some mando and guitar duo stuff though. Will send you details via PM just in in case you're interested.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Maybe there is a suburb most of you hail from?, those are pretty trendy to work into a name.
    King of Prussia
    Upper Darby
I don't know what those towns mean to a local, but once you are worldwide it won't matter.
