Default Sierra Hull at Franklin Theater in Franklin, TN

My wife and I just got home from seeing Sierra Hull at the Franklin Theater in Franklin, TN and all I can say is wow. I was fortunate to get seats right near the stage so we had an amzing view and it really let me see just how effortless she makes it look.

She switched from her Gibson to a 64 Fender Mandocaster for a few songs then to her Octave. Didnt matter which instrument it was...it was unbelievable.

It was inspiring and made me remember what it is about the mandolin that drew me in and though I am a bumbling beginner it kind of fired up my desire to get back at the practice in hopes I can one day play with at least a little confidence in my playing.

Am just so jacked up over it and had to share....thanks for listening.

Mandolin players like her are AMAZINGLY inspiring! My wife and I saw her in Bloomington, IN at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. I agree. Just WOW! So glad you were able to enjoy her show!

She’s an amazing young lady, and, like the kids from Nickel Creek, Sarah Jarosz, and a ton of others, it’s been fun to watch them mature as people and musicians. Yes, I realize there’s a bit of an age gap between NC and the other two ladies, but, I’m old...Cool to see their evolutions, and I can’t wait to see what she has to come! As a 6’, 200 (+) pounder, it blows my mind how well her pocket sized self navigates an OM fretboard. Much respect, indeed...

It was a great show! I was next to the stage as well, table 3, right in the middle.

I saw her and Ethan not long after Weighted Mind came out, a couple of years ago, and they are even better together now. Enjoyed seeing Scott Mulvahill up there with them with the 'dueling basses' during the encore!

Saw the show the night before in Bremen, GA. It was outstanding. Christian Sedelmyer on violin, playing his second night with Sierra and Ethan, and who I had not heard before, pulled the trio together really well and showed his amazing talent. Sierra played some licks on the mandocaster that would make any 1960's rock guitarist envious. It was great to watch all the things that she did on stage. Scott Mulvahill... Who would have thought that a solo artist playing upright bass could be so good. Stunning talent. And compelling music. He joined the trio for the encore, and they brought down the house with his new song.

You guys were directly in front of us...we were at table 7. Awesomw show. Scott blew us away...not only for how good his voice is but also for the amazing sound he gets from that bass.

We saw her in Fort Lauderdale FL a few weeks ago, great show. We were surprised that the theater was not very full. Was there good attendance at the other shows?

Looked to be about the same attendance I've seen at her other shows, maybe a few more. The couple next to me had not heard of her previously. They were there to see the opening band, who are local. Friends of mine BTW. That couple were quite impressed with Sierra. I saw more of a mature band leader/performer in her this time. That is going to serve her well IMO.

I saw her in Chattanooga on the 22nd, at the Songbirds Guitar Museum. It was a wonderful venue for Sierra, with three Loar-signed instruments just feet away in a display case.

We talked to her and the band afterwards, and they were all very nice and gracious people. I'm 30 years old, and I still get starstruck at performing musicians who are years younger than me, but decades ahead in musicianship.

My fiancee, meanwhile, found kinship with Sierra in their love for dresses with pockets (a rarity, so I'm told).

Interestingly, my band played that venue about a month ago. It's a completely different experience on the other side of the stage! The relatively small stage makes all the performers seem "larger than life" -- at least from my perspective. When I was on stage, I felt like an afterthought (but maybe that's just my self-doubt talking).
