Has anyone checked out the new Mike Marshall Bach transcription book? I've just begun to look through it but not enouugh to warrant a worthwile opinion. I've read through some of the prelude to the third partita but need to spend more time before offering any opinion. Anyone else check this out?

Not me, yet, but can you give more info? Does it draw from the violin partitas only or does it include other material? What? Notes only or tab too?

The Marshall book includes both music notation and tab with the following transcriptions: Fuga and Presto from Sonata #1; Double, Corrente, Double, Sarabande, Double, Bouree and Double from Partita#1; Fuga and Allegro from Sonata #2; Allemanda, Corrente, Giga from Partita #2; Fuga and Allegro assai from Sonata #3; and Prelude, Gavotte en Rondeau, Minuet, Bouree, and Gigue from Partita #3. I've seen him perform the Allegro assai from Sonata 3 and it was quite impressive.

In his album with Chris Thile (Into the Cauldron), they play the Goldberg variations, to great effect.
