Choro & Samba Workshop in Niteroi/(Rio) Deadline is May 25th!
Bay Area percussionist Ami Molinelli is putting together a killer choro and samba workshop in late July (yes this year!) in Rio. She has pulled together Rogerio Souza, one of the authors of the acclaimed "White Book" most of us use, along with Ronaldo do Bandolim, one of the finest bandolim choro players alive today. He was the replacement for Jacob do Bandolim in the Epoca de Ouro band. I have no financial stake in this event, just want to pass it along and see it successful! I unfortunately don't think I'll be able to make it this year.
Led by acclaimed choro composer, musician, arranger and producer Rogerio Souza, this workshop will focus on 1-2 musical styles per day in choro and samba . This workshop will be a 6-day intensive with classes in the morning and afternoon with a variety of instrumentalists and teachers with an emphasis in choro and samba. Morning classes will be a group class while afternoon will be divided by instrument. Instructors are experienced in teaching non- Portuguese speakers.
