    What is everyone’s thoughts on this combo?

    I would mount it into the neck with a screw and a pin, like most newer mandolins. If you need a little more stiffness you can put something 1/2" square, like a rolled or folded piece of leather or felt, under the pickguard near the tailpiece. Since this is electric any dampening to the top, which would be extremely minimal, would help with feedback at higher volumes.

    Ummm - ugly. Its not that hard to make one that fits and looks better.

    Nicely made guard. The Cumberland pickguard hasn’t been mounted yet.. it’s just sitting in roughly the position it will be mounted.

    Steve made me an unbound tortoise-oid one for the mandolin I got with that sort of binding color, years ago

    but stew mac has black pickguard material to DIY one not an F5 shape..
