Thread: Collings Tenor Guitar

    Default Collings Tenor Guitar

    Hi All,

I just got my Collings all mahogany tenor guitar back from the Collings repair shop, where they treated the guitar and me like royalty. No financial interest or ties here, just a very happy customer. They happily accommodated my tuning (GDAD) and string gauge preferences. They called me up when it was in final setup to see how hard I played so they could dial in the action just right, and ended up sending me two saddles so I could use whichever I liked best. Here's a quick video I shot of an improvisation and an Irish tune to run it through it's paces:

    Thanks,

Lock your doors Baron, I'll drive all night from Minnesota and take yours.
    Nice playing. BTW.
And once I have calmed down I'll bring my fiddle and we'll do some tunes.

    Bill
I could not get the dog sled out of the snow bank. The truck needs new tires. And walking would take weeks. (The bike may be an option however.)

So I'm making AN OFFICIAL OFFER to Baron to visit me and I'll pay for the transportation.
How about that? I'll even offer free food and the spare bedroom.

Another video please. We need another tune.

Gorgeous sounding guitar and lovely playing, Baron. What is the scale length and your string gauge preferences for that tuning?

Wow Doug, that's quite the offer! Thanks!

Thanks Jim, it's a 23" scale (same as Martin 0-18Ts) and I've got it strung 46 32 22 15 for GDAD. I use a 12 if I tune up to E, but I never do, so I like having it dialed in for the high D.

    Thanks,
