Default Anybody up for a fairly casual CBOM-flavored get-together?

Hey there, everybody in ZoukWorld! For the whimsical Zoukophile or the moderately serious Zoukologist, we are planning a somewhat informal extended weekend of fun, frivolity (& learning if we get around to it) in Albuquerque (NM), Thursday (31 Jan) - Sunday (03 Feb), 2018.

The faculty for this weekend of primarily Celtic CBOM fun and frolic are a small group of bouzouki+ folk who have been getting together for some time, have enjoyed it wildly, and have decided to spread the joy with like-minded folk to do some learning and playing together in a lightly organized, informal way, to enjoy and expand on the CBOM experience. The who is roughly: Ken Gilman & Louis Scuderi (of Albuquerque), Lindsay Straw (of Boston), and Anne Luna (of Ft. Sumner).

This is an initial foray into a bouzouki flavored (& possibly to be perpetuated) gathering. We are thinking in terms of 10-20 people, spending an extended weekend enjoying the instruments and the music. Registration of $150 will include 3.25 days worth of activity & the first two meals of each day. Lodging on your own. Situated in the picturesque north valley of Albuquerque.

If you want to know more, check out the webpage, and if that's not enough, shoot us an email.

    Hope to see you there!

Seems like your announcement is coming a bit late! :-)

Fortunately the year is correct on the dedicated page, but the post lists it as 2018
It sounds intriguing, quite a trek for me, but if I dovetail it with visiting folks in CO, not outside the realm of possibility. Glad I'll have time to ponder.

Hah! Good catch, thanks! It is, indeed, scheduled for 2019. Though I suppose we don't want to rule out the time traveling demographic .

Are mandolas too puny to be allowed?

    Hello,
This is great news! I live in Cochise County, AZ, just outside of the town of Bisbee - not far from you. Just yesterday l was wishing for some contact with other bouzouki players, as there's a real 'raised-by-wolves' aspect to playing and learning zouk around here. Fantastic!
    Best regards,

I don't see why not. Several of us play the mandola too.

I’m putting this on my radar for future reference...turned my OM into a mandocello, but, man, that thing’s a rhythm beast. This sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Though the idea of flying with my Weber makes me break out in hives...would have to buy a seat for it...

Is this sort of the new Zouk Fest? I know the old one used to be in NM for a while too.

We're aiming to be somewhat smaller in size and scope and a little more causal and intimate than ZoukFest was, at least in our first year. If it seems to be more popular, we might be able to expand it in the future.
