Odd old Puglisi mandolin

NFI and not interested in purchasing it myself, but came across this interesting old mandolin, I wish they had taken a better picture of the entire instrument rather just various oddly angled shots. At first glance I thought it was harp mandolin, but there aren't any additional strings. Link is here

These turn up from time to time - when auctioned they usually sell at around $200. This one is in better-than-average condition but I'm pretty confident it won't sell at $974

I was going to say that I wish it was going for about $200 - I have a very similar vintage Puglisi bowlback that sounds very good, it would make a nice instrument to play with.

David...did the one you played have that offset soundhole?

I love Puglisi mandolins (and Sicilian mandolins in general) and this is one of the kookier design features I've seen.

I've got a Cristofaro bowlback with their classic "D" shaped soundhole...I think to boost the low end, but this one looks aligned to the non-existant hard / drone strings.

Super strange.

The Puglisi shop was inventive and often nutty, but they made very good mandolins by and large, so they must have had something on their minds when they came up with this.

I wonder what that was?

David...did the one you played have that offset soundhole?

It was very similar if not exactly like that one. I think the overall body shape was a bit unusual for me as a player, though.

If I recall it had a decent bass response, maybe due to the larger body size.
