Default A Capitol 4th OM sighting

Did anyone else notice Lauren Alaina’s performance on the “A Capitol Fourth” special on PBS? Her backup prominently featured a dude playing what appeared to be a bowlback Greek style octave mandolin or bouzouki, played left handed, no less! A very unusual instrumental backup for a “country pop” singer, to say the least.

I saw one that was being played right handed but he moved around so fast I didn`t get to see much of it, with all of the noise that the other instruments was making I don`t see what the mandolin added...That show to me just proved that music now days is geared toward the younger crowd, about 10 years ago it was a different format and my band had the pleasure of playing there but God help us if they ever had a bluegrass band now days...I think the Seldom Scene did play there one year, whoever they are...
