Would it be possible to use light gauge strings on a mandocello having still the CGda tuning?

I have lights on mine. Takes a gentle touch when fretting for notes not to go sharp. Really really quiet, so I use it plugged in.
Irish bouzouki uses light strings on a long, banjo like, scale so you can get an octave gdae..
Cello cgda, being lower, may be floppy.. but give it a try..
but your definition of "thinner" is unknown ... how much thinner?
writing about music
is like dancing,
about architecture
I don't know how thin would be possible. But I would like to have a string tension like on a tenor guitar.
Tension on my Kala tenor (with factory strings) is more than my ‘cello. I don’t remember brand or size. Just told our music store owner I wanted lighter strings and took what he handed me when they came in.
