Default NK Forster Celtic O mandolin

Some of you may be familiar with the Celtic F mandolin video I posted a while back - here it is:

Well, it took a while but here is my Celtic O mandolin:

The O was one of the instruments stolen during the July break in to the Hexham workshop - we shot a load of videos on the Thursday they were stolen on the Saturday. Oh well.

Still, it's nice to have the video so you can compare the two designs.

    Enjoy the tunes,

Good to hear them. They are a bit different.
    Hellish story though.

Why do you call the top one the F? Is that because of the F holes, because it's clearly not a "standard" F-style mandolin.

What are you charging for the O style mandolins?

Very nice instruments. Beautiful natural finish. Just love that color.
I'm sure they would work for any kind of music. To me they look a little like a Brazilian mandolin and I wonder how some Choro music would sound on them.
Wonderful playing too, you've got a couple of good musicians there.

Yep, the "Celtic" mandolin is a very similar shape to both Brazilian and Portugese instruments. That makes sense as Stefan Sobell based his 70's Cittern on an old Portugese Guitarra. When he was asked to make a mandolin, he "shrank" the design down to create what became known as the "Celtic" mandolin.
