Default How much would be a reasonable price?

    Hi all,
I have a 1980 Nichols mandolin number 003 and I'm thinking of selling it because I'm looking at another mandolin. What you think would be a reasonable price? It had a Sitka spruce top, birdeye maple back and side and the neck is flamed maple. Here's somes photos. I had search the internet and I did not found much information.

    Here's a listing for a 1975 Nichols that sold for $2000.

David picked out nice wood for that mandolin.

The thing is, there's one listed for 2000$. One from Bernunzio with a small crack, same year of mine sold for 3250$ and when I check in different music stores they told me that they don't really know because it's a small builder not really known but they estimate between 3000 and 4000 when they checked it and played it. I post here because maybe someone has or already owns one and could help me with a price range. The wood is amazing on it. It gives it a really nice look.

You need to find out what they are selling for not what people are asking for them. It's hard to do with a small builder like Dave.

By chance do you know Dave?

No I don't know Dave and neither anybody who have own a Nichols before. I had hope that maybe somebody on the cafe would have information.

Probably the one negative to owning a small builder is trying to sell one. Certainly worth more than you will get, unless someone has played one and wanted one since. I'd have to play one before I'd buy it. Lovely mandolin, nicest Birdseye I've seen in a while.
