Default "The Flower Duet" from Lakmé (Delibes)

    Leo Delibes (1836-1891): Lakmé (1883)
    "The Flower Duet"

This is the famous duet for two sopranos from Delibes' opera "Lakmé", in a highly simplified and abreviated instrumental arrangement by Mike Magatagan. Mike's arrangement was intended for two violas and violoncello. I have played it on two mandolins and mandocello instead.

    Mike's arrangement is at Musescore:

I attach a PDF of my adapted score, with the viola parts in treble clef (ignore the octave mark on the clef -- I'm playing the mandolins at the notated pitch).

    1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
    Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin
    Suzuki MC-815 mandocello

Just updated my old recording on this one -- I love the Flower Duet, and it's great fun on mandolin. Same arrangement as my previous recording, but played with some rubato making it more musical.
