Default Site-wide down time Saturday morning

We are moving to a new server early tomorrow, Saturday morning, approximately 5:30 a.m. Central Time. The forum and classifieds will be offline for a brief time, the amount we cannot determine to the exact minute due to technical details we're not going to attempt to explain.

For some of you it may be 15 minutes, some could be an hour or more. During this time you may sleep in, read the paper, go for a walk or introduce yourself to those people living in your house. During this down time, in order to mitigate your disappointment, we have prepared this page.

It will not be necessary to email us in regard to this during the move.

It might be a good time to actually play our mandolins.

Good to know that, at 8:00 CET, I'll still find the Cafe up and running.

As for the first sentence I quoted: I'm not falling for that again. Last time I clicked the link, I followed the instructions and started talking to people in my house. Find out one of the kids had moved back in a few months before..

As to the second sentence, I'd like to play: over or under?

Thanks for the warning! And for the hard work!
I hope all of my snarky emojis don't disappear when the site migrates to a new server.

This is kind of like when there's going to be a lunar eclipse or meteor shower or something at 5 oclock in the morning and its so rare that you swear you're going to get up and check it out...

...but you don't. You never do.

Then again the thought that it might still be down when I'm having my morning coffee is a bit anxiety provoking. The people in my house are largely over rated. Sometimes they try to interact while I'm typing.

What if there's a glitch and the site gets scrambled out to nitherlands ?

Its been nice virtually knowing everyone. Hope to see you on the other side.
No matter where I go, there I am...Unless I'm running a little late.

I always did on such occasions (and visibility provided). But I have seen so many system outages in my day job that they have lost much of their fascination...

Thank you, Scott, for keeping one of the most vibrant and useful online communities up and running.
