    Sweet bench.
Sounds like guitar in a modal or DADGAD tuning.

To me too. Lots of reverb on that track. Moody woodshavings.

Wow, that's killer! Anyone have any guesses for how much $$$$ you'd have to drop to buy that much maple? I was going to tackle a similar bench this summer, but I think I'm on more of a pine budget.

    walt,
with that imbedded video, click in the bottom right "youtube" and get on that channel and it has a lot of info under the video. there are plans available for the bench, appears to be lumber packages precut, and then the approx. charges based on what type wood used. serious workbench here.

    "WORKBENCH PLANS"
    https://www.thirdcoastcraftsman.com/shop

"WORKBENCH LUMBER PACKS" http://theworkbench.com/ Hardwood lumber packs for this workbench are available through L.L. Johnson Lumber/Johnsons Workbench in Charlotte MI. Packs can be picked up in store or delivered to your house anywhere in the US.** They will mill the lumber for FREE, and if you order before 9/9/2018 you will get an additional discount on the lumber. They straight-line rip one edge, mill flat and smooth both faces so all you have to do is follow the plans and rip the boards to proper width, cut to length, glue up, cut joinery, and assemble. No further milling should be needed.

appears to be an efficient way to sharpen your hard duty wood chisels-in case you want to make a good woodbench

Tis a massive workbench indeed. If you spend a lot of time pushing a jointer plane over hardwood it's the bees knees. I was shocked that he attached the top with glued and pinned mortise and tenons. Maple is a very hard wood but not that stable and somewhere down the road it will need to be resurfaced. I surface the one I built (half the size of that one) by hand with jointer plane and it was a serious amount of work, don't think my back would be up for it at my age now. My first choice would be to have it run through a large drum surfacing sander. If you want a bench for luthier work, most builders use something closer to 2' x 4' that you can walk around. I also like having a tool tray below the work surface.

I agree, a 4'x8' torsion box is great for assembling cabinets, but my workbenches are 4'x4' and are too big for lutherie, generally. Mostly I keep one covered in stuff instead of putting it away, and one with everything I'm currently working on. It was supposed to be a "dirty bench" and a "clean bench", but instead I have a "dirty side" and "clean side".
