Thread: V joint

    Default V joint

I am building my first F style mandolin and now I am in the process of attching the neck into the body and I'm in great doubt of how to go on. Following the Siminoff method (V joint) I should have cut the neck heel perpendicular with the face of the neck but for some stupid reason I didn't. I cut a 6 degree angle in the heel. Roger Siminoff makes a 6 degree angle in the neck block.
So my question is: can I go on with gluing the neck in in this way or should I do something else.
    (Sorry for my poor English)

Pictures are always helpful. I don't think it will be a problem. A dovetail joint has the angle cut into the heel of the neck, the mortise in the body is perpendicular to the top plane. As long is the joint fits well and you have the proper neck set angle, it should be fine.
