So that's where it went! That is a special F5. Glad to see it in the deserving, capable hands of Joe K Walsh!

Interesting Info, Shaun! Thanks for posting.
Thousands of A-style owners just let out a collective cry of anguish.
I wonder what the older owners are now playing?
Not all the clams are at the beach
Arrow Manouche
Arrow Jazzbo
Arrow G
Clark 2 point
Gibson F5L
Gibson A-4
Ratliff CountryBoy A
That's the mandolin Andrew used on 'Buried In A Cape.'
Good to hear it's the hands of another player who can do it justice!
Joe has gone F-style?! Amazing tone Gilchrist has.

That Gilchrist does sound great. I just saw Joe two days ago at the Northwest String Summit in Oregon with Danny Barnes and Grant Gordy. Joe performed with his Nugget. His playing was phenomenal and the Nugget sounded fantastic. I was expecting to see the Gil and it was a pleasant surprise.

To bad we can hear a direct comparison to Joe's A Gil. That was a pretty good mandolin.
Why in the world would Andrew cross out Made for Aubrey Haynie?
I heard Marlin play that Gil in Breckinridge two years ago, I believe just after he had acquired it. It lit up the concert hall that night!
I heard Andrew on his Loar in Dallas recently. That mandolin was amazing.
It doesn't matter . . . I'm going to WINFIELD!!!!!
Yes, Andrew is now playing a Loar, per the latest Fretboard Journal edition. Glad the Gil is in Joe’s hands, and Andrew’s Loar sounds great. Of course, he also sounded great on his Eastman, but it will be fun to watch how he and the new Loar develop together...

That was the mandolin Andrew Marlin was playing when I first really tuned into Mandolin Orange's music. It sang in his hands, Joe's not too shabby himself. I then got to see MO live here in Houston and he was playing the Loar. Another great sounding instrument, but in my head I was still listening for the sound of the Gilchrist. This one is pretty special.
Really interesting to hear it in different hands. Andrew has a more aggressive picking style than Joe. That thing sounded amazing on Buried in a Cape. His Loar sounds more nuanced in the videos I've seen. Gotta catch them on their next West Coast tour!

I really loved seeing them in San Luis Obispo a few weeks back. Front row, and it was an incredible set. My wife is now a big fan and has been playing their latest album, Tides of a Teardrop on her iPhone, daily. Several songs honor the memory of his late mother, the church pianist. Incredible guy and a great couple!
Awesome video of his Loar
