    Default New Strap!

It didn't take very long before my shoestring strap broke... luckily I caught my instrument before it fell.

I have quite a bit of 500lb paracord leftover from other projects, so I figured I'd make something a little more reliable.

I just used this video tutorial and made the end loop smaller, and the overall length to size. It took about 25 feet of each color.

Happy with the end result, love the garish color. Of note for sure, is that it's definitely a heavy strap. Still, it fits just fine in the Eastman gigbag without having to remove it.

    Cheers!

We are waiting to hear about how the tone of your mandolin improved once you put the new strap on.

I'm debating whether to complain that it's electric (green) or that Bill wouldn't have done it that way...... joking aside, cool strap!

I’ve made several mandolin straps in similar fashion, though none quite so awesomely garish!! Nice job!

I've got a bunch of paracord that's been looking for a project. Definitely going to try this.

I pulled out a bunch of paracord this morning to try this out. I've got an old Gibson A1 with a heel button that currently has an exceptionally ugly and uncomfortable strap on it.

Thanks for the compliments folks! It was fun and easy to make, and is proving to be functional and reliable. Pals sometimes have a hard time with how ugly it looks, but it's growing on them

As opposed to this one...which I'll deem "adequately distasteful". Good luck, post pics!
