Default Mia Mandolins in Greenbrier, Arkansas.

I stumbled upon this site today. I have never heard this brand mentioned here before; a use of the search feature came up with nothing (didn't see her in the Builder database either). Some of her designs look pretty cool.

She has been around for a little while at least. I've known of her for four years. Haven't ever heard any complaints. I understand she'll do a trial period. For what she charges for a US made mandolin you probably couldn't go wrong.

That's a good find. Had not heard of her work so just added her to the builder database.

From pics of the past builds, she has sold quite a few instruments. Surely someone here ended up with one of them?

I have played 3 of her instruments. One was the blue starry night A Style. It has a beautiful, loud and resonant tone. Very unique and bouncy. I still own and love this instrument. The others were F Styles that were fairly soft and had a slightly weaker tone. It could’ve been that they needed to open up a bit, but I wasn’t wowed by them in the way I was with the A Style. They were also much earlier builds than mine. All three have a very large neck and flat fretboard.

Clarinda herself was very kind and warm in her communication and I like the artistry and earthiness of her designs. Especially with a trial period, you certainly can’t beat the price of these instruments.

I’ve demoed her mandolins once on YouTube. They’re pretty good. More playability and tone than your average import, but don’t expect to be bargain Gilchrist shopping or anything. Definitely fine mandolins, though.

For those wanting a made in USA mandolin at a reasonable price, or a fine beater to take traveling, and like the rustic build look, it's something to consider seriously. No pretense to fancy here, just a solid wood mandolin. I like the whole concept. You can just imagine the back woods porch fun you could have with one.

Here's one of her mandolins at Reverb for a very decent price. Wide nut.

I like the Celtic A on the site, and at that price I don't see how you can go wrong (NFI.) Too bad I'm not in the market for another mandolin, although that doesn't stop me from looking.....

That A4 in the demo looks awesome! I don’t think there’s many other builders carving tops and backs at that price. I’m not really in the market either, but it makes me want to try and justify a reason to be! I’m very impressed!

Bring a thread back to life. I just ran accross her , and am considering a octave build. I know its not Weber , and it’s also not Eastman for less but I feel you get a personal touch with these that I can afford. Will let ya’s know.

My pal just bought the Mia mandola from the classifieds ... I hope to have a look at it when it arrives. Sound clips on her site seem promising.

Just put a deposit on an octave. Not easy to find a blue mandolin, let a lone an octave. I am still on the fence between oval sound hole, or F’s. Leaning towards oval.

When I go visit my granddaughter in Arkansas I’ll contact Clarissa for a meetup and tryout. The sound and sustain that I hear online definitely has my ear and my curiosity on full alert.

This interesting. She goes against the trend toward fancier, more expensive and focuses on the sound. While I am not a big Star Trek fan, I do like her down home vibe and take on earthy mandolins.

Glad to see she's still building. I corresponded with her a few years ago about getting a mandola built. She was super pleasant to deal with but I ended up backing out after deciding I didn't need a mandola.

I really like the way they look. It is nice to see a builder trying to do something different. It would be interesting to see how they compare to other domestic builders in this price range such as Morris and RAG.
