100-Piece Mando Orch Concert Celebrating Music of Woodstock/1969
Woodstock and Beyond: Celebrating the Music of 1969
Featuring the East Coast Mandolin Orchestra (ECMO), with guest artist Toby Leaman, of Dr. Dog
ECMO is a one-of-a-king plucked string "pops" orchestra that comes together annually to perform thematically-based based concerts. The orchestra includes mandolin family instruments (mandolin, mandola, mandocello, mandobass), guitar, double bass, flute, vibraphone, and percussion.
This year's event celebrates the musical legacy of 1969, including (but not limited to) Woodstock. Toby Leaman of Dr. Dog is the featured guest artist. Much of Dr. Dog's music draws inspiration form the music of the late 1960s. The program includes music from a wide range of artists, including Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, Carlos Santana, Michel Legrand, the Ventures, the Grateful Dead, Canned Heat, the Who, Jefferson Airplane, Stevie Wonder, the 5th Dimension, Burt Bacharach, etc.
Based in Philadelphia, the 100-piece ECMO draws its membership - professional and highly-skilled amateur musicians - from across the US.
