Re: Elixir Mediums vs. D'Addario Mediums?
I did go Elixir for a while on mandolin, they are very bright when new, are highly responsive and hold up a while, my only dislike on Elixir is when they start to "go" they go fast ( I tend to play "hard" out on stage) . The D'addario I think are generally less bright and perhaps a bit quieter, but they do hold up quite a bit longer than Elixir.
Recently I went with Curt Mangan's on Mandolin and Octave and really like them, they are less bright than Elixir but equally loud with good sustain, the tone is solid and balanced, and they hold up well.
