I like the best pick up for a banjo better: F-150; F-250 for dual pickups!

My best and cheapest mute for mandolin is a sock that I place in front of bridge ! Works great ! Now my wife doesn't leave the house when I practice !

My wife hates my mandolin playing. The frequencies get to her. I play guitar and she loves it. I still play, but less when she's around.

    I have it on a T-Shirt I bought at Elderly's back then.
My wife hates my mandolin playing, too, but likes my banjo playing - maybe some day I will understand, probably the day will never come.

This effect may be epidemic, requires serious study. We do have to be careful, though, as it may edge into very dangerous territory.

Ya know, they sell real banjo mutes. Pete Seeger, in his long-standing How To Play the Five-String Banjo instruction book, advocated stuffing a diaper between the head and dowel stick.

And you can always look for a Bacon & Day Silver Bell with knee-lever muting. My long-time singing partner Nancy Lee Park had an original B&D 5-string with the mute. Worked fine.
