According to Steve Gilchrist’s website, he built Andrew Marlin a model 5 two years ago and a model 1 last year.
Is anyone aware of recordings (eg live shows on YouTube) of him playing either instrument?

Watch House video. At 10:30 his Gilchrist shows nicely.

A bunch of stuff with four strings
Thanks! But I think that's the Gilchrist he's since sold to Joe K Walsh being the video is from 2018.
Prettiest sure his first solo album (Buried In A Cape) was all done with his Gil, despite the cover art with him holding the Sullivan A (Ella).

Yes, I believe it was. However, I am specifically interested in hearing his new Gilchrists, finished in 2021 and 2023, respectively. Buried in the Cape was recorded before those instruments existed.
I really love that Gilchrist that he sold to Joe. Such a killer mandolin. I can’t seem to find any recordings of the new one online.
Ivan, thank you! I didn't think to check his instagram :-).
There's a couple videos of his model 5 there.

Agreed - that mando sounds great. So did Joe's old model A! Not sure which I like better :-).
If we're discussing Joe's Gilchrist, pegheadnation and Joe just released a fun pick comparison video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcKN_Ldc0fo&t=385s
Mark and Josh - what about that mando do you guys feel is particularly special compared to other Gilchrists?
I thought the Gil Joe plays is the one previously owned by Aubrey Haynie...?
Did he tire of dragging a Loar around the world? Confounded by tiny frets and a long fretboard extension? I can see that. When I finally do dump mine (perhaps after its 100th birthday next year...?) a Gilchrist will be a likely replacement candidate.

He’s a man of many mandolins including atleast 1 Loar. Like many of us I think he is just mandolin obsessed and always searching for the right variety of tones for his music.
If you look at his latest Gil, you’ll see that the flowerpot is slightly modified.
Here is Andrew's recent Model 5. Looks like Steve has a placeholder for a video.
Here's the Model 1.
My take on it only... With that particular Gil, I hear the power that is natural to his build style, but I also hear more depth and bloom to the note. Newer Gils tend more to mid-range focus and dry clarity.
PS. Edit because I just saw this was my 1000th post! Well that's cool.
Is Joe playing an F now?
Yes, the former Marlin Gilchrist, formerly the Aubrey Haynie Gilchrist (see above). The story I heard was the label reads "Made for Aubrey Haynie" and Marlin crossed out Haynie's name and wrote "Me". Dunno if Walsh has further personalized the label, but I guess since it sez "Me", whoever is the owner is Me. Plus, Walsh lives in Maine, which is abbreviated Me....Made for Maine!
