There has been no update since the March 31 updates posted above, to my knowledge. John went into the hospital last Thursday, was incubated on Saturday in critical condition, Fiona reported that he is stable on March 31, and clarified that stable means no changes (not to be confused with "improving").

    From two days ago: https://people.com/country/john-prin...irus-symptoms/

Yesterday, from Billy Prine (John's brother):

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

To everyone who has kept my family close to your heart over these past few days. To those who have called, posted, prayed, and most of all, showered all of us with your love, I am forever grateful!
John is still hospitalized, and is still in stable condition. He is a fighter.
Please continue to send him much love.

My daughter was house hunting a few years ago in LA and were looking at a little bungalow at an open house. Kevin Bacon was there with one of his kids house hunting. I don't know who ended up with the house, but someone out bid them by $100,000. They knew they had no chance if Kevin Bacon wanted the house. Celebrity sightings are common in that town, and the cool Angelinos leave them alone.

Happy ending as they found a house.

I'm one degree of separation from Kevin Bacon; all y'all are two as a result.

For years I was two degrees, as I know the bass player in The Bacon Brothers. Then when they played at the Philadelphia Folk Festival in the late 90s I bumped into him backstage after their set, said hi, and shook his hand. FWIW. No big whup.

For the folks who eschew Facebook:

This is John’s 8th day in ICU . He is receiving excellent medical care and being treated with kindness and compassion by the entire team looking after him day and night.
I cannot be with him which makes this nightmare all the more distressing for me.
As you know, John was put on a ventilator last Saturday. He still needs quite a bit of help with his breathing. Like many patients currently in ICU beds all around the world, John has pneumonia in both lungs. He has also developed some peripheral issues that are being treated with meds, including antibiotics.
He is very ill and yet I remain hopeful that he can continue to fight this devastating virus and come home where we can care for him.
I don’t have the words to adequately Thank You all for the outpouring of love and prayers that John and our family has received this last week. It means the world to us to have your love and support at this difficult time.
On behalf of me and our boys- Jody Jack and Tommy - please know that we are keeping you all in our hearts with a prayer that you stay safe and healthy. Please continue to send Love, Prayers and Positive Energy to John. He needs us now more than ever.
John loves you and I love you too.❤️

Yes, that's the text from the link I posted - that's Fiona Whelan Prine speaking. Thanks for doing that.

But she also posted this cartoon, well worth seeing:

Been a fan of John for a long time although never had the chance to see him in concert. Remember playing his songs at college coffee house gigs and impromptu college dorm parties in the mid 70's. People really enjoyed the songs...many of them thought they were our originals...lol. At least we were able to expose some people to some of the great songs and song writing genius of John. Haven't heard any recent updates other than the stable but not improving reports. Hang in there John..we are thinking and praying for you!

Damn. News just in, John Prine has passed. They sent him an angel from Montgomery, carried him to Paradise. Damn.

The Angel Band is getting to be a bit too good.

When I get to heaven, I'm gonna shake God's hand
Thank him for more blessings than one man can stand
Then I'm gonna get a guitar and start a rock-n-roll band
Check into a swell hotel; ain't the afterlife grand?

And then I'm gonna get a cocktail: vodka and ginger ale
Yeah, I'm gonna smoke a cigarette that's nine miles long
I'm gonna kiss that pretty girl on the tilt-a-whirl
'Cause this old man is goin' to town

"If heartaches were commercials, we'd all be on TV...."
But Amsterdam was always good for grieving
And London never fails to leave me blue
And Paris never was my kinda town
So I walked around with the Ft. Worth Blues

First time conciously listening to a John Prine song was "GrandpaWas A Carpenter" (Circle II) and "Paradise" (a Jim & Jesse album and a "Country Gentlemen" album). Grandpa was a carpenter not only struck a chord but stayed with me lyricswise over all these years. Paradise struck up a conversation with the owner of a now long defunkt Frankfurt music shop about the 2/4 vs. 3/4 thing.

Here´s hoping for his vodka and ginger ale and him being able to hold a 9 ft. long cigarette. May he rest easy.
