Always loved Joan Baez singing this song. Lovely intro and we all pray for John Prine and his wife. A legend.

Loosing John Prince would be a sad day for American music. His wit and wisdom is unparrelled.

There's a John Prine song for everything...except possibly this.

But, I guess I'll listen to "Please Don't Bury Me" and think of his ability to find humor and keep on.

Joan is such a talent, I was genuinely touched by her tribute to John.

John has always been on my list of top talents, he has such a way to convey complex issue into simple words we all can understand. I wish him the best.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick posted a sweet video of themselves on Instagram doing Prine's fun "In Spite of Ourselves," with Sedgwick playing uke and Bacon playing what looks to be a Kentucky F model. Couldn't figure out how to get an Instagram video to embed here, but here's a screen shot and a link.

Report from his family this morning was that John is showing improvement today.

    e. Just saw a message from his wife that clarifies that "stable" doesn't mean "improving". Its still very serious

Keeping my fingers crossed for him.

In Dec sometime Bacon posted in his Instagram feed about learning mandolin and he’s playing that Kentucky. Kind of funny that even a man who surely has a lot of money gets a middle-of-the-road mandolin to “learn on.”

Godspeed and best wishes to Mr Prine.

Perhaps that's why he has a lot of money. No matter how much you make, you will surely go broke if you have to have the best of everything. I would guess he has some pretty nice stuff though.

And they both clearly enjoyed themselves playing the song for John. In that moment they may have felt they were simply making music for a friend, brand names immaterial.

The same thought occurred to me. Just because someone is rich doesn’t mean they throw money around on everything. But I think Bacon has a pretty nice guitar collection. I bet if he really gets into the mandolin and gets beyond strumming it like a guitar, he’ll end up with some nice mandolins.

Pretty sweet Kevin Bacon plays Mando! I still love the original Friday the 13th movie he was in-well and some others! I met John Prine in 2005 at the Station Inn when I went to see Mac Wiseman and Jesse McReynolds who were playing, I went with Uncle Gene Johnson - Mike Bub was bartending, Roland White was milling around and so was John Prine, I talked with all of them at great lengths but John was very interesting to chat with-he had some stories and all were great to chat with! I still have photos somewhere with all of them from that night! What fun it was, I wish him the best-well everyone who has this nasty Virus!

Kevin Bacon and Kyra did a great job on that tune! John wrote a bunch a great songs.

I've told the story before on this forum. FWIW, years ago I saw a guy at a local yard sale who looked exactly like John Prine, but thought nothing of it and I didn't say anything to him. A few days later I read a review where John Prine had played in town, which I didn't attend and put two and two together. We did, however, attend the same yard sale -- so I guess that's how famous songwriters kill time before a show!

I just started in Safe Mode with no add-ons and they show up fine. So probably there is an add-on that conflicts with FB video for some reason.

I figured it out. I had recently installed Facebook Container which makes it harder for Facebook to track your visits to other websites with third-party cookies. That was the culprit. That is good to know.

Then there are three things we can be assured of:

    1. He got a fair deal or even better.

    2. His mandolin was well set-up.

    3. He got great advice.

Oh, and a fourth, he had a positive buying experience.

I think many here will agree.
