Post Thile's Fingering- Bach's B minor Partita, BWV 1002: II. Double

Here's another installment to a masterclass in Thile's fingerings. Next up is the Partita No 1. in B Minor, BWV 1002: II. Double

A couple things about this piece I found interesting:

    - His fingerings for the first time through the tune and the repeat are different. The repeated sections are a way to cross between strings so that the notes are more like a waterfall. By that I mean you can get more sustain between each note before having to lift off the finger to get to the next fret. It lends itself to more of a legato sound.

-I put in his pick directions for this piece as well. For the most part this piece is usually played with the down-up picking direction. I'm not sure if it was just spur of the moment on Thile's part or if he planned them but there are phrases with multiple downstrokes in a row so I thought y'all should be aware.

Enjoy and stay safe out there!

For sure! Go ahead and click the black box, it should open up the PDF. Not sure why the preview of it isn't working. If that doesn't work send me a private message and I can email it to you.

Thanks, Jake. Got it! I've been working on this piece. Great warmup piece; I prefer this instead of doing scales.

He completely changes the fingering for the repeat?

I've just watched the video again - and yes he does!

Well done for taking the time to notate it!
