Default Really nice looking tenor on the bench...

Been on with a lovely looking tenor guitar the last few days. Its a torrefied sitka and ziricote T-SK or Session King tenor guitar.

Of all the soundboard upgrades I do, I like this torrefied sitka the best. It sounds really "open" from day one.

The ziricote is lovely too. I've seen stuff which is more "over the top", but I bought this stuff specifially because it looks like really nice Brazilian rosewood.

I'm just waiting to hear back from the customer what fretboard width they want. The scale will be 24.75" So more like a "Plectrum" guitar than a tenor.

The binding scheme is probably the prettiest and classiest I have ever seen. Makes it look like an inlay unless you look really close.

Thanks. I settled on black binding as standard a few years ago. I use Rocklite. Its an engineered wood (made from many layers of veneer) Its jet black, tough and bends far better than ebony.

The fashion has been for binding to be as deep as possible, but I like to make it as light as possible - years ago I saw a HauserI classical guitar. In a museum in Rome. It was really beautiful. And the binding was no deeper than the top. It looked so classy.

    Hey Nigel,

Great stuff, thanks for sharing! I always love to see works in progress, and like everyone in this subforum, tenor guitars especially. I absolutely love the grain of the dark wood on the sides and back. Beautiful.
