Default "HEAVYSIDE LAYER"...a FASCINATING HISTORY of RADIO, TV, RECORDING

In 1946, Alan, now age 95, began his career as a producer of a regular broadcast on the Mutual Broadcast Radio Network. Using state-of-the-art recording techniques, which included 16” acetate transcription discs to 16” vinyl pressings, The Longines Symphonette Orchestra was broadcast in 30 minute, weekly segments coast to coast.
With the birth of television, Alan quickly found himself at the forefront of this exciting new broadcast medium.
Here, he discusses broadcast radio recording techniques, AM vs. FM radio transmission, The Dumont Television Network and the development of early color television. Along the way we visit The Shadow and The Heaviside Layer!
This is his FASCINATING and highly educational story, told in his own colorful words.
