ID:	185149Hey Gentleman. I beveled the frets on this repair I’m doing. After reading a reply from Sunburst on a post. I opted to bevel just a little less with a little steeper angle. I made this tool from scrap I had laying around. Didn’t have a table saw so I used a dremel router attachment. I know it looks primitive but it works. I used a protractor and best I can tell it’s about 45 degree. Can you guys look at the pics and tell if they look about right to you? I didn’t want to lose any more playing room than I had to. Their not completely finished, polishing is left to do. Thank, appreciated veterans.

Looks like a good starting point to me. Round off the corners and they should feel fine.

I use a very similar tool that I made. If it feels smooth as you slide your finger along the fret ends the you are fine, if not as John says round off the corners.

Thanks guys. Yea, the pics are not great but their actually smooth as silk right now. Went over the ends repeatedly up to 2000. JR

I use a small triangle file with the corners ground safe to round the fret ends, then follow with sandpaper. It's probably not necessary to go all the way to 2000.

The proof is in the playing. The reason to bevel the frets is for comfort. If it feels good it is.

+1 on Sunburst's point about the edges. I use one of those little safe edge files from Stew Mac made for that purpose, and get the ends closer to hemispherical so the fingers don't catch on them.
