Harold Reid, or Lester 'Road Hog' Moran, died on Friday April 24 at the age of 80. His was the deep bass voice of the Statler Brothers on many albums, and, memorably, the leader of the Cadillac Cowboys, a hilarious spoof of country music which has become a cult favorite since the Statlers introduced that part of their act in 1972. I can not honestly link any mandolin connections with the Old Road Hog, or his group, but I am confident that many of us on this board laughed out loud when the music from radio station WEAK came roaring out of the Johnny Mack Brown Auditorium.
One of the guys that I play OTM with is, like me, a connoisseur of the CC (Cadillac Cowboys). All it takes is a look, and 'Kick it off, Wichita', and we are both in stitches.
You were a 'goodern', Harold.
