Re: Over and Out / Paul Glasse & Aaron Weinstein
Hi Paul,
I see that you are using iReal Pro. Lately, I've been proselytizing the merits of this app for practice to anyone who will listen. I first downloaded it years ago for practicing some Gypsy Jazz and Pop Standards on Guitar but became frustrated with it when I unknowingly had it set to increase tempo each time through the chart. I've deleted and re-downloaded it several times and through some trial and error have finally started to find some use for it. I love that they've added additional playback styles like bluegrass and latin rhythms.
It really clicked when first learning fiddle tunes on mandolin taught by Sierra Hull and Matt Flinner. I set it up so that I had root and fifth bass notes on the down beats with mandolin chop chords on the upbeats and it really helped me to hear how the melody fit within the chords and to know whether or not a note should be played with a down stroke or upstroke when using strict alternate picking.
I now program charts for every tune that Flinner teaches in class and I've learned enough to now program charts for my own tunes. Only occasionally do I find myself flustered like trying to find a setting in iReal Pro that will play the Bo Diddley Beat.
Anyway, thanks for sharing and posting the iReal Pro chart.
Play that which you feel is groovy, get down with your bad self, and shake your money maker if it makes sense for you to do so.
