    newbie here and i have been using medium guitar picks. any specific recommendations on mando picks?

    Sure, a thousand recommendations! But here are some general guidelines from me:
    Budget Dunlop Primetone large triangle. Cheap enough to lose, but good enough to end your search.

    Mid-range Wegen — a different tone and feel, which may appeal to you. A softer, rounder attack. Two picks for about $15 I think?

    Most expensive BlueChip, the standard by which all other picks are measured. $35 a pop. I don’t really like them so this is less a recommendation than an awareness. I really like the new D’Addario Chris Thile casein pick.

    Play a lot. Keep everything. You’ll revisit something months later and find that it offers you something new.

    also cheap are Radex, by d'Andrea. 3 thicknesses, I like the big triangle (346) shape.
