Just finished about a week ago and just went off to their new owners. Friends and bandmates. These are the first two instruments of this design coming out of the Muleskinner Instruments shop, but more will be coming very soon because I am very excited about this instrument design.

#1 - Burst top : Mahogany back and sides and neck. Engelmann Spruce Top. Koa Bindings. Schaller Tuners, James tailpiece. Ebony fingerboard and bridge.

#2 - Natural Top : English Walnut back and sides. Engelmann Spruce Top. Maple binding. Mahogany Neck. Schaller Tuners, James tailpiece. Ebony fingerboard and bridge.

Both are a 21 inch scale length.

Wow! both are just gorgeous. I think the walnut is stunning. I'm sure they sound as wonderful as they look.

And here is a video demo of the two Guitar Bodied Octaves...up the hill from the shop in a new small cabin being built.

Absolutely beautiful creations, Andy. Lovely design, choice of materials and hardware. Both sound really great too.

Wow, just astonishing - those are exquisite with a great sense of tonal authority. I am particularly taken by the sophistication of the blond one. Lovely.

Their carved tops and backs make them seem like spiritual relatives of the big Weber Octar (which is wonderful company to keep!) Their shorter scale will make them easier to play and provide a way for players to explore, expand and grow the space Bruce opened up with the Octar.

    Kudos to you Andy. Bravo!

I am the proud owner of the GBOM Andy built with the Walnut back. The first night I owned it, the thing pulled 2 new original instrumentals right out of me (working on getting a video example of them up here soon). It is still opening up every time I pick it up, but from the first strum the thing sang like no other.

But in the meanwhile...I also help Andy out with video work for his instruments as they roll off the bench. Here's another one with his friend and luthier at Froggy Bottom Eric Goodenough. They just kind of launched into this one and I was quick on the draw with the camera! Some beautiful stuff.
